server upgrades

Currently i’m planning network upgrades for (where this site is running) and changing them into more mature network environments. To get a more secure and robust environment i’ve been looking into SELinux and hardened gentoo, but finally have chosen to go for Free-BSD based systems. As for linux the security enhancements need to be added on top of the base system, Free-BSD (5.4 at least) seems to support enhanced security more natively which is never a bad thing. So i’ve started experimenting with ipfilter and file system access control lists, and things look promising.
